A Brisbane man is at a loss as to why he’s been knocked back for the state government’s buy back scheme after the devastating February floods, despite meeting the criteria.

A recent Deloitte Report estimated the cost to the state at $7.7 billion dollars.

To help those affected, the government is offering to buy back certain flood affected homes as part of the $741 million dollar Resilient Homes Fund.

Over 200 homes have so far been approved for the Council’s Voluntary Home Buyback Program.

Manuel Halicos’ home has flooded twice, once in February and in the 2011 floods.

“I have applied for it, but been advised from the reconstruction authority that [we] are not eligible for it, because they are only picking certain homes at certain suburbs and so even though I meet the criteria, they just keep changing the goal posts,” he told Neil Breen.
