Neil Breen savages response from state authority on flood buyback scheme
Brisbane Live has received an update as to why a Brisbane man’s property isn’t eligible to be bought as part of Queensland’s flood buyback scheme.
Last week, Neil Breen brought to light Manuel Halicos’ story.
His house has flooded twice, once during the February deluge and in the devastating 2011 floods.
But Mr Halicos was advised his home couldn’t be purchased by the reconstruction authority, despite meeting the criteria.
5,400 people registered for the Resilient Homes Fund.
23,000 homes in Brisbane flooded, 51,000 in south-east Queensland.
Today, Brisbane Live received a statement from the Resilient Homes Fund.
“They’ve done 200 valuations – 51,000 flooded,” Neil said.
