A Logan family has had a real taste of how the Grinch stole Christmas after an Australia Post delivery van went missing last week.

The van was stolen from Daisy Hill in Logan on November 25 and discovered several hours later, abandoned on Tarlo Street in Eagleby.

Karley Acworth told Sofie Formica she lost around $800 of Christmas decorations that were due to be delivered to her home that day.

“At the end of last year after Christmas, we decided to pass on our Christmas tree and decorations and everything else to other families that were doing it tough,” she said.

“This year, we had literally nothing to start off with so we thought we’d go out this year and buy all new things. All of those contents and presents and gifts were in there.”

There’s been no confirmation about whether any of the lost packages have been found but Australia Post has so far refused to compensate the owners.

“For all I know, all my packages could be dumped in bushes somewhere with my name and address all over them.”

Ms Acworth has been attempting to negotiate refunds or new items with the retailers she’d purchased her goods for.

“I have contacted a few of them,” she continued. “One supplier basically said they questioned the authenticity of my claim.

“Australia Post pretty much just threw their hands up in the air and said, ‘Oh well’.”
