Coronation Drive reopens after sinkhole drama shut down road
Brisbane’s Sinkhole Watch 2022 has officially come to an end.
There were massive traffic dramas this morning when a 1.5-metre-wide and 1-metre-deep hole opened in the centre of Coronation Drive at Auchenflower.
The hazard reduced inbound traffic to one lane, and at times, forced workers to close the entire road.

But 9News reporter Peter Fegan has confirmed repair crews have now finished refilling the hole.
“The area in concern is from the Regatta Hotel to the Wesley Hospital, so it’s only a small section,” he said.
“Because I’m a good investigative journalist, I’m going to walk down to the Regatta Hotel and make sure everything’s okay.”
He said the heavy rain this morning was enough to open the road up “like an old wound”.
“From the surface, it just looked like a big pothole but from the chopper, … it was really big.
“If you had driven into it at 60 kmph, it would’ve ripped the front axel of your car, it would’ve done some damage.”
