The family of slain Queensland police officer Brett Forte says the tragic deaths of Constables Rachel McCrow and Matthew Arnold have hit home.

The young officers were shot and killed in an ambush on a Wieambilla property on the Western Downs, along with neighbour Alan Dare.

Luke Forte, whose brother Brett was fatally shot in 2017 following a pursuit, says it’s devastating more families are enduring the same heartbreak.

“It’s eerily similar to Brett’s death, obviously, so I’m extremely shocked and saddened by what’s happened,” he told Bill McDonald on 4BC Summer Mornings.

“It’s such a horrible situation to be in, when you lose a loved one like that, so we’ll wait and see whether they’d like to see us and obviously we’ll talk to them when they’re ready.”
