Unleaded petrol has hit around $1.99/litre in many parts of south-east Queensland, as many Queenslanders hit the road this festive season.

The average is $1.86.litre, although there is cheaper fuel in the southern ring of suburbs in the Underwood, Eight Mile Plains and Kuraby areas.

Chris Ford from Compare the Market says there are significant discrepancies across the region, and as always encourages motorists to shop around and compare.

“We knew it was coming, very tough when we are all going to be hitting the roads over this festive period,” he told Bill McDonald, filling in on Brisbane Live.
