Authorities in Queensland have described the death of a mother in North Lakes on Boxing Day as a tragic, horrific event.
The death of Emma Lovell on Monday night has sent shockwaves through the community.
The 41-year-old was allegedly stabbed in the chest and died from her injuries, while her husband was also allegedly stabbed in the back after a confrontation with two alleged intruders.
Police Minister Mark Ryan said it was a senseless act, describing her death as a tragic, horrific event.
“Words can’t describe the grief the community is experiencing, but also the family, friends the loved ones of Emma Lovell.”
Assistant Commissioner Cheryl Scanlon said the Lovells’ teenage daughters were unharmed, but traumatised over the incident.
“This has been a very confronting incident for the local residents, for the community and also for first responders who were involved in that incident, on the evening of the 26 December.”
Two 17-year-olds have been charged with murder and attempted murder.
A 17-year-old Narangba teen and a 16-year-old Zillmere teen were charged with one count of stealing, in relation to a separate incident.
They have been released on bail.
