Repatriated wife of senior IS member bailed after terror charge
The wife of a senior Islamic State member has been granted bail after being charged with returning to an ISIL stronghold.
Mariam Raad was arrested on Thursday in south-west NSW, where she had been living since being repatriated from a Syrian detention camp by the federal government.
Police allege the 31-year-old knew about her husband’s role with the Islamic State but she has previously denied the allegations.

Liberal Party deputy leader Sussan Ley is demanding more clarity on the repatriation process.
“I really cannot understand why the government chose to do this in the first place,” she told Peter Fegan on Ms Raad’s repatriation.
“But today, we’ve actually given them a long list of questions that need answers and they include: how many more repatriations will there be, … are there any more charges likely to be laid?”

National Party leader David Littleproud said despite all the assurances from the government, he’s still not certain the group of repatriated wives pose no threat to the Australian public.
“You have to think about the greater good of this nation, the greater safety of this nation,” he told Bill McDonald on 4BC Summer Drive.
“Unfortunately, the Albanese government has opened up a front here that we didn’t need and we didn’t need resources poured into.
“They now need to come clean to us on how many more they intend to bring back and where they’re going to put all these people.”
