Grave fears for mother missing 30 minutes after triple-zero call
There are grave concerns for the safety of a Gold Coast woman who went missing in the half-hour after calling police over a robbery.
Wendy Sleeman contacted emergency services around 3pm on Tuesday after returning home to a potential burglary.
“Within the half an hour of her reporting the crime and then police attending, she’s disappeared,” Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said outside her Elanora home.
He said Ms Sleeman was making the report about her son, Slade Murdok, who had a contravention order in place, after she saw him at her workplace.
Police suspect Ms Sleeman had a fight with her son.
“The scene behind us would indicate that there’s been some violence there, and there’s also evidence to show that a fire had been commenced but it was extinguished.
“Now it’s 17 hours or so since she was last heard from, it’s very important that we get community assistance.
“There’s been some ongoing issues from probably about 2016 so there’s been support from various government agencies along the way and unfortunately, it would appear that’s failed.”
Mr Murdok was believed to be driving a blue Honda Jazz bearing Queensland registration 952AT4.
He is described as Caucasian, 180 centimetres tall with brown hair and a slim build. It’s believed he may be in the Brisbane area.
Anyone with information regarding their location is urged to contact police. Anyone who might see Murdok is urged not to approach him and to immediately call triple-zero.
