Mark Riddell slams Junior Rugby League coaches stacking clubs
The Continuous Call Team’s Mark Riddell has slammed Junior Rugby League coaches ruining the development of young kids, by stacking their own clubs with the best players from rival clubs.
It comes on the back of reports the NRL is considering further expansion in the future with a push to have 20 teams by 2032.
The boys argued expansion can’t happen without more focus on rugby league at the grassroots level and in the regions to promote participation for kids.
Riddell also slammed coaches at the junior level poaching the more skilled players from other teams to stack their own side with talent.
“It’s not good for the areas that they do it in,” Riddell said.
“If you’ve got a 10 team competition and one team goes and stacks that and then they win every week.
“You’re doing nothing for the development in that age group for that area.”
