All eyes will be on Hollywood when the 95th Academy awards get underway in a matter of hours, with a number of Australians in contention.

12 Australians have been nominated, with Baz Luhrmann Elvis biopic leading the charge with 8 nominations including one for best picture.

There are also high hopes for Hollywood veteran Cate Blanchett, who is up for best actress, but it’s thought her Critics Choice Association acceptance speech may have blown her chances.
