Redlands blasted over $20k cash splash to pursue outspoken councillor
A southside council has racked up more than $20,000 in fees to pursue legal claims against an outspoken councillor.
Redland City Council was singled out in state parliament last week for paying for legal advice after an independent investigation firm recommended the matter be dismissed.
Almost 30 complaints against councillor Adelia Berridge have been lodged with the state council watchdog after she called for alcohol to be banned from council chambers in the wake of Mayor Karen Williams crashing a council-owned car while drunk in June last year.
“It just goes to show the bias and chaos that’s in the council,” Capalaba MP Don Brown told Neil Breen.
“Redland City Council has the highest rates in south-east Queensland by far and they’re just wasting money like this with legal fees that shouldn’t be occurring.”
