‘A pretty strong push’: Cricket tipped to feature in Brisbane 2032
A leading LA 2028 Olympics planner has tipped cricket will be part of Brisbane 2032.
AECOM global sports and social infrastructure leader Bill Hanway said the T20 version of the sport could be likely for Brisbane if it doesn’t feature in LA’s master plan.
It would be the first time cricket has featured at an Olympic Games since 1900, when Great Britain played against France in the only match of the tournament.
Queensland Cricket chief executive Terry Svenson told Luke Bradnam there’s a strong argument for the sport’s inclusion.
“There’s going to be plenty of eyeballs around the globe watching cricket if it ends up in LA and then here in Brisbane,” he said.
