A new report has revealed that the soon-to-be Olympics venue in Logan will include a 7000-seat indoor stadium, despite no confirmation of what sports will be played there.
The venue, in the electorate of federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers, was quietly added to the list of venues to be federally funded in February, with new details about the facility released by the state government today.
The concern is that no one yet knows what sports will be played at the new venue.
But Logan Mayor Darren Power told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live that it’s not necessarily a bad thing as “flexibility is part of the proposal”.
Mayor Power told Neil Breen that regardless of what sports the venue will be designed for, spending money in Logan will be of “a lot more value because the legacy will be in a city that needs sporting facilities”.
Mayor Power also revealed that he’s previously told the Deputy Premier that “the money you spend here will be the best money you spend on the Olympics”.
