A thirteen-year-old boy has allegedly caused the death of three people in a stolen motor vehicle accident in Maryborough.

A teenager allegedly broke into a house in Maryborough on Sunday night and stole a Mercedes vehicle.

At about 10:45pm on Sunday night the alleged stolen vehicle collided with the back of a Holden on Saltwater Rd, which then crashed into a Mazda.

The accident has caused the death of three women aged 17, 29 and 52.

Another 23-year-old woman was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Brian Connors, the Assistant Commissioner for the North Coast Police Region, confirmed “the driver was known to police” but was not on police bail at the time.

The boy was charged with three counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will appear in court at a later date.

Police are investigating if there was a second passenger in the Mercedes.
