Albo’s ‘Same Job, Same Pay’ policy causing uproar
Some of the country’s biggest business groups have launched a campaign to dump Albanese’s ‘Same Job, Same’ Pay policy.
The proposed changes would mean that labour hire workers, like subcontractors, are legally required to be paid at least the same as full time employees.
This means a subcontractor with 6 months’ experience in a job can get paid the same as someone who has 6 years’ experience.
The Chair of the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA), Matthew Addison, is part of a new campaign fighting against the Albanese Government’s policy.
Mr Addison told Neil Breen on 4BC Brisbane Live that “small business seek to reward it’s employees fairly and equitably, we seek to reward workers for loyalty, for competence, for experience, for productivity. We’re really worried that some of the language around ‘Same Job, Same Pay’ is going to disrupt that”.
Mr Addison is calling for more detail on the proposal.
