After the announcement that Victoria would no longer host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, the Gold Coast has stepped up. 

The Gold Coast would host its second Commonwealth Games in eight years after the 2018 games.

Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate, told Peter Gleeson on 4BC Drive, “It [2026 Commonwealth Games] shouldn’t interfere with that [Brisbane 2032 Olympics], it’s a good test run for the Gold Coast…”
