‘They don’t need to be bloody robots’: Former Video Referee slams current refereeing
Former NRL Video Referee Chris Ward has slammed the current state of refereeing in the game at the moment, likening it to robots controlling the game.
It comes after Canberra coach Ricky Stuart blew up over several decisions during Saturday night’s loss to the Broncos at the post-match press conference.
Ward called in to tell The Continuous Call Team he thinks modern-day referees need to be trained and coached better.
“They need to be coached,” Ward said.
“They need to be individuals, they don’t need to be bloody robots doing the same thing in every game and that’s what happening – they’re all doing the same thing.”
Earlier, Mark Levy took also took aim at the lack of consistency and nit-picking occurring this season.
