Optus hack one year later – have we learned anything?

On September 20 2022, Optus detected and probed into unusual network activity. By the following day, it was confirmed that Optus had experienced a data breach, and regulatory authorities were promptly notified.

Additionally, Optus couldn’t determine the exact number of affected customers or if the stolen data had resulted in any harm at that juncture.
