Lexus NX 350h Luxury AWD SUV – second generation just so impressive.

David Berthon

Driving Lexus’s most popular model today – the medium-sized NX SUV, more
specifically the NX 350h AWD Luxury at $73,850. Featuring a 2.5-litre petrol four-
cylinder engine linked to the latest Lexus hybrid drive system with twin electric
motors and a compact lithium-ion battery driving through a CVT automatic. This
is a fuel miser and whilst Lexus claim just 5L/100km the best I could
achieve was still an impressive 5.9L/100km but a downside is it does need 95RON
petrol. This second-generation Lexus NX is so much more refined, the interior
classy and superbly finished with nice materials and one can see how it quickly
became Lexus’s big seller – now with better availability but with 12 variants
available getting your model of choice may still prove difficult without some wait.
The NX350h AWD Luxury perhaps hits the sweet spot in the range,
comprehensively equipped with all the safety, comfort, and convenience features
you expect in a prestige SUV. Like a lot of models today some aspects of the
driver assist aids can be too intrusive and the lane keep assist function one in
particular. Ride and handling are very polished, giving the NX a feeling of quality on
all road surfaces.
