FULL SHOW: Weekends with Peter Fegan – Sunday, 7th July 2024

Peter Fegan

On the show: Feegs is back and talking about Peter Dutton’s accusations of “shameless” pork-barrelling by QLD Premier Steven Miles, in an effort to conceal Queensland’s grim economic future. We hear your thoughts on the topic and predictions for the upcoming election.

There’s also breaking news from the LNP convention, where David Crisafulli announces a string of reforms as part of their ‘Staying On Track’ Program; including “adult time for adult crime” and more. We hear reactions from key victims of crime advocates Victor White (husband of Vyleen White) and Trudy Reading; PLUS Russell Field (father of Matthew Field) joins us live in the studio after returning from his attendance at the convention.

Sky News Australia host, columnist and radio host, Erin Molan, joins Peter for the Sunday Breakdown. From the vandalisation near the Australian War Memorial to David Littleproud’s announcement at an LNP convention yesterday that he would enact Federal law unless the states and territories got on board Nuclear – we hear Erin’s thoughts on the pressing issues.

In Local issues today, we chat with child & adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg. Vyleen White, Toutai Kefu, Ben Cannon, Emma Lovell: all are among the names of the countless victims of the youth crime epidemic here in QLD. But how and why do these children and young people get to this point where they engage in these destructive behaviours? Dr Carr-Gregg shares some thoughts.

In June 1984, Pseudo Echo released Autumnal Park, with the lead single ‘Listening’ hitting number four on the Aussie charts. They’re back on the road again for their 2024 Machine Tour and are in South East Queensland next weekend. Frontman Brian Canham joins Feegs to talk about the tour, one of their biggest hits – their cover of the classic track ‘Funky Town’, and his thoughts on the Australian music scene today.

Finally, 4BC Sports Reporter Sam Leckie provides an extensive update of the weekend action and we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
