FULL SHOW: 4BC Weekend Breakfast with Olympia Kwitowski, Saturday 16th November 2024
On the show today: Olympia covers the headlines including new road safety reports that suggest Brisbane drivers are feeling more anxious on local roads than ever before. We hear your thoughts on this.
Gardening is back for another week, and sees Paul Plant and Olympia discuss coastal planting. Paul gives some recommendations of hardy plants that can withstand the coastal environment, and some tips to maximise their potential.
Paul also answers your questions! We identify a potted plant that needs revival, discuss a Poinciana tree that has developed a rare growth from its root system, dealing with a mealy bug infestation, and whether thinning out thriving Nasturtiums is a good idea.
PLUS Paul introduces his plant of the week: the Cottonwood Tree (Hibiscus tiliaceus)! A native tree along the beach coast and also provides a home for wildlife.
In the second hour; we hear about an intriguing Australian-led project to grow plants on the moon! Olympia chats with Director of Lunaria One, Lauren Fell, about the project, which has been slated for takeoff next year to explore if something “living, fresh, and green” can survive the harsh lunar environment.
Elsewhere, The Australian has launched a dedicated digital-first Health & Well-Being section to help Australians live their best lives and age well. Journalists and medical specialists will share decades of experience covering the important issues affecting health, aiming to put truth over trends. The Australian’s Social Affairs Editor, Stephen Lunn, joins Olympia to share more about this series.
PLUS: We hear from Ryan McCann of First National Cleveland for a weekly real estate update.
