‘Right now they are short-changing us’: Government to soon have power to boost school funding

Legislation passing today will allow the Federal Government to increase their funding to public schools beyond the 20% it currently offers.

Acting President of the Queensland Teachers Union Leah Olsson told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, ‘on a macro level, you’re talking about $1.4 billion across Australia per year to fully fund State schools.’

‘Fully funding and resourcing our State schools will mean those other issues around occupational violence, workload, all of those things that we’re all grappling across the country with right now, will have an impact,’ she said.

‘This funding will have an impact in resolving some of those issues.’
