“Really embarrassed”: Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding reacts to media gag attempt

Councillor Paul Tully has proposed changing Ipswich City Council’s media policies to prevent Mayor Teresa Harding from being the lead spokesperson on major council matters.

Councillor Tully has defended his actions by suggesting the committee chair, rather than the Mayor, should be the lead spokesperson.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “I fail to see how this motion is serving anyone other than Councillor Paul Tully.”

“I’m really embarrassed this is happening to our council,” Mayor Harding continued.

UPDATE: The motion has been tabled.
