Extent of crop damage caused by North Queensland floods laid bare

The extent of the damage from torrential rain and flooding in North Queensland is being laid bare as farmers welcomes changes to disaster recovery funds.

In the past, farmers have been unable to use the funds to replant damaged crops.

But after lobbying from Canegrowers and The Queensland Farmers Federation, the state government will allow the grants to be used to cover those costs.

Rural Editor Emily Minney spoke with Canegrowers Chief Executive Dan Galligan about the funding.
