Sunshine State set for $200 million infrastructure funding boost

Last year various state governments petitioned the federal government for increased funding with the Albanese Government telling Premiers to prove that the investment would be worth it.

Queensland’s petition was successful, and now the Sunshine State is set to receive $200 million for various infrastructure projects, including the Story Bridge.

The Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “We’re working with the Brisbane City Council to start to investigate what the cost of and scope of works are needed to restore and for future maintenance of what is obviously one of the most iconic bridges in the country.”

“We need to make sure this bridge stays there into the future and is as strong as it possibly can be and we keep it there for many, many generations to enjoy,” Mrs. King said.
