‘The government isn’t doing enough’ – Farmers call for greater support for Aussie food production

The Federal Government announced its “Feeding Australia” initiative earlier this week. 

The policy is designed to strengthen the nation’s food security, lower supermarket prices and make the agriculture sector more resilient. 

However, despite the initiatives noble intentions, farmers are concerned that the $3.5 million already committed will achieve little beyond merely making a plan, and lacks any proper support or practical benefits for farmers.

Luke Grant chats with the CEO of Lockyer Valley Foods, Colin Dorber, about how the government can better support struggling farmers, boost Australia’s domestic food production infrastructure and fend off the threats posed by globalisation.
