Hit Netflix show ‘Adolescence’ issues wake-up call on raising young boys and online toxicity

Bill McDonald

The hit Netflix series Adolescence has kickstarted a public conversation about what it takes to raise boys into good men, especially in this age of social media.

It’s a frightening reminder of what young boys are exposed to online and how toxic beliefs can develop.

Conflict strategist and meditator, Sarah Blake told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “What I love about it was how it’s sparking conversation amongst all sorts of people, so it’s a really important watch and it’s confronting and it’s emotional, but as a consequence we’re talking about this.”

Blake highlighted the importance of connection and social ties in the fight to steer the young boys in the right direction saying, “Giving him time and a relationship connection, that’s going to make a world of difference.”
