A father in the US has gone viral after filming his son being disciplined in a display of ‘old school’ parenting.

Bryan Thornhill posted the video of his 10-year-old son running to school in the rain as punishment.

The boy had been banned from his school bus for three days for bullying other children, so came up with a creative form of discipline.

The video has been viewed more than 23 million times, drawing a mixed reaction.

Mr Thornhill predicted the backlash, saying a little running never hurt anybody.

“If you get your panties in a wad seeing a kid jog, well I feel sorry for you,” he said. “You probably need a lap or two.”

Alan Jones has backed the father saying, “that’s precisely what my old man would have done”.

“No wonder we’re going to hell in a handbasket. I think it’s called discipline… as for the argument the father is bullying his son, it’s not an argument that I buy.

“It’s called tough parental discipline and there ain’t enough of it.”
