Council wants to ditch little green man for ‘gender equality’
Pedestrian crossings would look very different if this Victorian council gets their way.
Brimbank Council in Melbourne is pushing to replace the “walk and don’t walk” figure with a female silhouette to promote “gender equality”, the Herald Sun reports.
Brimbank’s Mayor Margaret Guidice is backing the change to the little green figure, saying it would show women they’re “valued in our community”.
Smithy’s All-Star Prue MacSween tells Chris Smith if she was a ratepayer she wouldn’t be having it for a second.
“This is absurdity.
“I know the council deal with garbage but we don’t expect them to make their own garbage.
“They have not been given a mandate to go into these social engineering notions.
“It’s just so ridiculous. If I was a ratepayer I’d be screaming from the rooftops.”
