Peter Byrne has been the delighting Neil Diamond fans for well over 20 years with his flawless tribute concert backed by a 30 piece orchestra.

He tells Ray Hadley the great man himself has even thrown his support behind the show, saying Neil wrote to him following his “first award for best production show” telling him “congratulations” and to “keep up the great work”.

Peter is now dedicating his talents to a worthy cause, performing in support of Parkinson’s research in honour of Neil who was diagnosed with the disease last year.

Neil Diamond recently announced retirement from live performing due to the debilitating neurodegenerative disease, which affects more than 10 million people worldwide.

In response to the devastation the news brought to Aussie fans, Peter is putting on a concert in support of the Shake it Up Australia Foundation to help increase awareness and raise funds for Parkinson’s research.

Shake It Up’s Vicki Miller tells Ray they “may not find a cure for Parkinson’s” but they need research into treatments to “slow or stop the progression” of the destructive disease.

“It’s not something that is going to kill you when you’re diagnosed with it, you’re probably going to live with it for a very long time.”
