20-year-old Rabbitohs utility Cameron Murray says he still pinches himself sometimes when he’s at training.

But when the Bunnies played the St George Dragons in a do-or-die clash on Saturday Night, the second-rower didn’t have time to smell the roses.

He just needed to get the job done, and he delivered.

Murray pulled off a smooth one-on-one strip with less than four minutes left on the clock, a move that ultimately gave Adam Reynolds the space he needed to slot a field goal.

It locked the scoreline up at 12-12, but gave the Rabbitohs the momentum they needed.

“I knew we needed something special and I think everyone did,” Murray tells Chris Smith.

“Everyone was trying to do their best to strip it when they were defending and give us the best field position to convert a field goal or score and close out the game.

“It was more luck than anything, it just happened so quick. It was just an instinct thing.”

With just seconds remaining, Reynolds’ magic boot delivered again and Souths secured the win 13-12.

Their win will see South Sydney take on their long-time rivals, the Sydney Roosters, in the preliminary finals.

Murray tells Chris he’s “confident” about their chances on Saturday night and he’s looking forward to the challenge.

“I feel like we can take a lot of confidence from the effort that we showed across the park on the weekend.”
