Convicted murderer employed by local council
A council employee in Sydney’s south west has been suspended from duties after it was uncovered he is a convicted murderer.
Ray Hadley has revealed Brett Davenport has been working as a parking ranger since being released from jail.
Davenport murdered a man in May 2000 and was sentenced to a minimum of 11 years and three months behind bars.
“How in God’s name would you put a murderer in a position of authority?” says Ray Hadley.
Liverpool City Council CEO Kiersten Fishburn has confirmed the staff member has indeed been suspended.
In a statement to The Ray Hadley Morning Show, Local Government Minister Gabrielle Upton says, “it’s outrageous”.
“I call on the Liverpool Mayor to urgently explain how this could happen.”
Ray Hadley says the council must take responsibility.
“The cheques and balances at Liverpool council have failed… there should’ve been some check done by the council to ensure the safety of their constituents.”
