Where are our drought donations going?

Article image for Where are our drought donations going?

The federal government’s special drought envoy Barnaby Joyce is warning our farmers are still in dire straits, despite some recent rain.

Parts of New South Wales and Queensland received good falls in November but nowhere near enough to break the drought.

Mr Joyce tells Alan Jones he’s been travelling to regional areas and says the situation isn’t good.

Alan asks if the millions of dollars donated by Australians is getting to where it’s needed and if it’s all being tracked.

“If you said can you track it down to the cent, no.

“People who’ve made their own arrangements, we can’t track.

“But we have the capacity, through the major organisations, to track them.

“And those who we have any problems with, we have the capacity to audit.”
