Retired NRL star Greg Inglis has been admitted to a facility as he deals with depression and alcohol issues.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs confirmed Inglis “entered a facility to undergo treatment to assist with and support his mental health”.

“Rabbitohs and Souths Cares ambassador Greg Inglis has entered a facility to undergo treatment to assist with and support his mental health.

On behalf of Greg and his family, we ask the media and the public to respect their privacy.

No further comment will be made by the Rabbitohs, Greg, his management or his family at this time.”

The former Melbourne, South Sydney, Maroons and Kangaroos star announced his immediate retirement from Rugby League back on April 15.

Ray Hadley has formed a close bond with Inglis over the last year, after he opened up about his mental health battles in an emotional chat.

After news broke that Inglis had been admitted to a mental health facility, Ray offered a heartfelt message to the 32-year-old.

“I’ll support him as I’ve supported him previously.

“I believe he’s a decent and good person who, like a lot of people young and old, battles mental health issues.

“I hope and pray that he can deal with these issues into the future.”
