Rugby League immortal Bob Fulton has payed tribute to Melbourne Storm superstar Cameron Smith ahead of his 400th game in the NRL.

Smith will become the first player ever to reach the milestone on Saturday evening when the Storm host rivals Cronulla at AAMI Park.

The 36-year-old made his debut in 2002 for Melbourne and has played in seven Grand Finals, won two Dally M Player of the Year awards and is a two-time Golden Boot winner.

Speaking onĀ The Continuous Call Team, Fulton believes Smith will go down as one of the most skilled and smartest players in the history of the game.

“He just doesn’t get flustered, nothing sort of affects him,” Fulton said.

“I’ve seen a lot of players including myself that would get really angry at times and would want to blow up and do that, he’s quite calm with everything.

“He is a player that could have played in any era.

“If something needs changing, Craig Bellamy doesn’t have to send him a message down, he knows.

“He’s the only player in the history of the game that has dominated a football game from the dummy-half position, it’s unbelievable.”

Smith has scored 2500 points, 1162 goals and has 285 wins in the NRL, the most by any player in all three facets.

The Melbourne captain and hooker has also won 11 State of Origin series in his 42 appearances for Queensland and won two Rugby League World Cups in 56 Tests for the Kangaroos.
