Tiny Brisbane restaurant wins big at the Good Food awards
A number of Queensland restaurants have received prestigious awards at last night’s Good Food Guide awards.
Tiny Brisbane laneway restaurant Joy was awarded New Restaurant of the Year.
The restaurant seats just ten people, offers a no-choice menu and is run by husband and wife team Sarah and Tim Scott.
Joy also received the honour of two hats alongside fellow Queensland restaurants Otto, Stokehouse Q, and Wasabi.
Six Australian restaurants were awarded the top gong of three hats.
THREE HATS
- Quay – NSW
- Sixpenny – NSW
- Attica – Ripponlea, Victoria
- Minamishima – Richmond, Victoria
- Brae – Birregurra, Victoria
- Orana – South Australia
Regional Victorian restaurant Brae took out the prestigious title of Restaurant of the Year.
The awards were attended by more than 800 restaurant industry guests including Matt Moran, Kylie Kwong and recipient of the Legend Award, Maggie Beer.
The event was a double celebration too, with 2019 marking the 40th anniversary of the Guide being published by The Sydney Morning Herald.
Maggie Beer was the well-deserved recipient of the Legend Award, and she tells Steve Price she’s proud of her achievements and is busier than ever.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had such a buzz in my life… you’ve got to pinch yourself, don’t you, sometimes?”
