A siege has ended in Sunnybank Hills and a 26-year-old woman has been rescued by police.

A PSPA earlier closed roads on Bradman Street between Bellrick and Peterkin Streets, with several houses on Morden Street also affected.

Police allege a 25-year-old man was holding a woman known to him at knifepoint in the bathroom of a home.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said specialist negotiators were called in.

It’s understood police were conducting a welfare check at the home.

“This was a high-risk situation, which I am very thankful to report this afternoon has ended peacefully,” he said.

The woman, who police say is very shaken, has been taken to hospital uninjured.
