‘Act now’: Power company’s honest plea to customers

An electricity provider has told its customers to search for cheaper deals elsewhere and move suppliers urgently to get a better deal.

ReAmped Energy is the second retailer to make the sensational move in just 3 weeks, following LPE Energy in May urging customers to do the same.

ReAmped Energy provides electricity to more than 70,000 customers across NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT.

In a message posted to the company’s Facebook page, CEO Luke Blincoe, said the prices are going to go up and they are going to keep going up.

Simon Downes, the head of public affairs at the Energy Collective, which includes ReAmped Energy, says the wholesale cost of energy is so high that it exceeds the retail price of energy.

Smaller, challenger retailers have been hit the hardest.

“We are effectively buying energy at one price and have to sell it to customers at a price we can’t afford to sell it at,” he told Scott Emerson.

The company wants to thank customers, but wants them to switch, and do it quickly.
