Adani set to create thousands of jobs in North Queensland
Mining giant Adani continues to miss deadlines for the Carmichael coal mine site in the Galilee Basin.
But the project is set to create thousands of jobs and bring commerce to the Townsville community.
The council also has pledged $15 million to co-found construction of an airport in North Queensland.
Frustrated by delays and protest movements, developers are keen to start work.
Chris Kenny speaks with Chief Executive of Townsville Enterprise Limited Patricia O’Callighan.
“It’s not just about the Adani project, it’s also about the opening of the Galilee.
“We’ve got over 236 people who are currently working here in Townsville… so for us, it’s real, for us, it’s important.
Chris also speaks with Palm Island Mayor Alf Lacey.
“It’s a game changer for us.
“Economic opportunity that comes by like this in your lifetime, we have to focus our younger people to be apart of the economic prosperity.”
