Aircraft noise key election issue in Queensland

Excessive aircraft noise for Brisbane’s inner suburbs was one of the deciding issues in the federal election, a community group says.

Residents in some parts of Brisbane have been up in arms about the noise from the second runway for months.

Chairman of Brisbane’s Flight Path Community Alliance David Diamond says it was clearly a key election issue with the movement in three marginal seats in inner Brisbane.

Griffith and Ryan have both become Green-held seats, and Brisbane could also change hands from the LNP to Labor.

“I don’t think there’s one item in any election, but we knew we had 10,000 that would vote our way across those seat seats, and they were all tight seats so they were going to have an impact,” he told Scott Emerson.
