Qld Minister embarrassed on knowledge of controversial land clearing laws
Queensland Natural Resources Minister Doctor Anthony Lynham has been completely embarrassed over his knowledge of a controversial land clearing prosecution.
Farmer Dan McDonald has been fined more than $100,000 for harvesting his own fodder to feed his cattle in drought.
The government claims Mr McDonald had cleared mulga in order to “carry out development without a permit”.
Doctor Anthony Lynham tells Alan Jones the farmer was prosecuted under laws introduced by the previous Newman government.
“It’s before the courts, it’s under appeal. He was prosecuted under previous laws that farmers supported, that farmers are rallying about.
“They want those laws back. He was prosecuted under those laws.”
But Alan refused to accept Dr Lynham’s evasive responses, repeatedly questioning him on details of the case and of Queensland’s land clearing laws.
The Minister came up short, time and time again.
