Actors, writers and comic book fans around the world are mourning the loss of the man responsible for some of the most famous superheroes of all time.

Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee has passed away at the age of 95.

He was probably the most famous creator in the history of comic books, as an editor, writer and publisher at Marvel Comics.

Lee helped create a line-up of superheroes including Spider-Man, the Hulk, X-Men and hundreds of others that would also appear on TV and in films, video games and as action figures.

Performer and avid Marvel fan David Campbell tells Deborah Knight what made Stan’s creations so incredible was that they were based on real people.

“Marvel Comics were set in New York City, Peter Parker was a teenager.

“Stan has this great knack of saying, ‘What is the human part of this?’… And he absolutely nailed it.”
