Another airport strike threatens to throw Christmas travel into chaos

Airports will be thrown into chaos next week as security workers walk off the job, just days out from Christmas.
Strikes are scheduled to take place at the Brisbane and Gold Coast airports on December 19 as part of a dispute over wages.
The United Workers Union claims it’s been fighting to get equal pay for workers, in line with NSW and Victoria, for six months.
Brisbane Airport spokesperson Stephen Becker told Bill McDonald he’s still hoping for a timely resolution.
“We hope that in the Christmas spirit, those parties, [ISS Security and the Union] can come to an agreement that is fair and equitable but means people can get on their way for a terrific holiday.”
Mr Becker said if the strike action goes ahead, it could spell flight delays and travellers potentially missing international connections.
“I do know the airlines are working on a range of contingencies with the airports and those are being worked through now.”
