Anti-daylight saving campaigner says it’s ‘costing our country a fortune’
Daylight saving has begun across several Australian states, and not everyone is happy about it.
Clocks moved forward an hour in New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, but not in Queensland.
It’s “because they’ve got more sense,” according to Alan Jones.
“Every year we have to cope with the dislocation and the cost of all this, a country now with five different time zones.
“We’re mad!”
Former Rugby Union referee Graeme Brittenden is a man asking why we need five time zones between October and April when we can manage with three for the rest of the year.
He’s proposing to advance Australian Eastern Standard Time by 30 minutes, permanently.
Mr Brittenden tells Alan, since writing his proposed changes back in 2010, nothing has changed except he’s “found more and more benefits of the change”.
“We should’ve done it back in 1899 when South Australia moved their clocks forward.
“It’s now become so political.”
“It’s costing our country a fortune, and we can’t afford it!”
