Archerfield Speedway land actively for sale as costs overtake revenue
The iconic Archerfield Speedway is up for sale and expected to shut its doors after more than four decades in operation.
While the future of the dirt track venue has been uncertain for years, the land has been officially put on the market with no concrete plans for a replacement.
Promoter John Kelly says the land will be sold for industrial use as the private owners look to move on their assets as costs overtake revenue.
4BC traffic reporter Olympia Kwitowski says she’s stunned to hear the speedway will close after visiting just a few weeks ago.
“I can’t believe they’re not turning over a dime here, Breenie, because it cost $30 per person to get in,” she said.
“The place was absolutely packed!”

Very surprised to hear Archerfield Speedway will be no longer. I went there only a few weeks ago. $30 entry fee and a can of Jim Beam and coke was $12… the place was packed!!! @breenie9
