‘One of the worst in modern times’: At least 19 dead in New York City fire
At least 19 people have died, including nine children in an apartment fire in New York City.
The New York City Fire Department have reportedly identified at least 63 initial victims, 32 of whom were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The fire was knocked down some time before 1pm local time.

US correspondent Harley Carnes told Neil Breen the biggest reason for injuries was severe smoke inhalation.
“This is one of the worst fires we’ve witnessed here in modern times in New York,” he said.
