A pooch called Seven with a strong work ethic has sold for a world record price in western Victoria.
The $22,000 paid for the two-year-old at the Casterton Kelpie Muster smashed the previous world record of $14,000, set in Jerilderie, NSW.
Karen Stephens from the Casterton Kelpie Association says it is actually great value.
“They can replace the job of two good farmhands,” she explained. “A couple of keplies could round-up 5,000 sheep very easily for a farmer.”
“And a kelpie won’t answer back either.”
