The future of Australia’s energy could be greener as it experiments with biomethane, which turns waste into energy.

Biomethane utilises organic waste, animal manure and sewage to generate energy.

Australia is exploring this eco-friendly energy production method, with Jemena leading the way by injecting biomethane into its gas network at the Malabar Biomethane Demonstration Project.

Jemena spokesperson, Michael Pintabona, told Sofie Formica on Afternoons, “…What it’s doing is this concept of a circular economy, where you take something that otherwise would have been wasted and you repurpose it, it’s recycling on a grand scale.”
