Australia slammed for ‘piss-weak’ treatment of Julian Assange
A former politician has hit out at Australia’s treatment of Julian Assange after Sweden dropped a preliminary rape investigation into the WikiLeaks founder.
The Swedish Prosecution Authority said the passage of time meant there was not enough evidence to charge Assange.
Assange has repeatedly denied the allegations levelled at him.
Former Liberal MP Ross Cameron, a long-time supporter of Assange, tells Ben Fordham he believes he is innocent.
“The biggest bullies in the playground have been delighted to sit around with Julian Assange constantly referred to as an accused rapist when there hasn’t been the evidence there from the very first day.
“Australia’s performance has been absolutely piss-weak.”
